The Archive Times

Preserving South African music legacies and the global artists who shaped today’s sound.

About

The Archive Times serves as a historical archive and digital publication, safeguarding the legacies of prominent figures in music for future generations.

We publish biographies, oral histories, and curated archives based on artist impact and contribution to the music scene.

Editorial Standards

Every biography published by The Archive Times undergoes a rigorous editorial process. Historical articles are reviewed by our in-house editorial board and an external panel of music historians, journalists, and cultural researchers. Articles are evaluated for historical accuracy, neutrality of tone, and contextual relevance.

Each piece must meet our editorial benchmarks before publication, ensuring that the content reflects the highest standards of archival writing and cultural documentation. Only after passing this multi-layered review does a biography appear in our publication.

We publish biographical features on individuals whose impact and story we believe merit recognition, choosing subjects based on significance rather than routine scheduling.

Publication Reference Number: Each biography is assigned a unique Archive Reference Number (ARN) for record keeping and citation. Readers, researchers, and institutions can use this ARN when referencing our material.
